All under heaven has a beginning,
we regard it as the mother.
Having known the mother,
we may understand her children.
Understanding her children,
we return to guard the mother;
and though our bodies may fade,
we will know no danger.

Guard your senses,
close your gates,
and through all your life,
you will never grow weary.
Indulge your senses,
chase after affairs,
and through all your life,
you will find no rescue.

To see the subtle is clarity;
to embrace the gentle is strength.
Use the light,
return to clarity,
and bring no harm upon yourself.
This is called practicing the eternal.
